It has been a hard week (at my real job) and I was dying to get on my TopFuel 9.8.  Freshly cleaned, serviced and polished, we were raring to rip the trails apart.

So, 3pm, on a windy afternoon and I’m off to my favourite mountain, Dorsberg or more affectionately known as, “Stairway to Heaven” at Meerendal. It was a bit chilly and quite windy, but that did not stop me, for I was in my happy place. Well happy has many faces and being off my bike for a week did not help my cause.

The unforgiving wind was soon the blessing from above as it was a considerable force from behind helping me up that wonderful climb. Couple of trophies earned on Strava…..

For those that have ventured all the way to the top knows, you have to work to be rewarded with one of the most incredible views in the world, a heavenly sight!

Soon enough we reached the top and after admiring the view and paying respects to the late and great Gugu Zulu, it was time for our reward. The Meerendal single track from the top all the way down to the bottom is world class. And boy, did it not disappoint. Now I have said it before and I will say it again, this bike, TopFuel 9.8 handles like nothing you have ever experienced. The active suspension made it the smoothest ride ever!

Any errors or mistakes from its owner were quickly forgiven. The bottom of that mountain came way too quickly. So quickly in fact, that we even considered going up again. Yeah right, who was going to believe that? It was beer time!

And tomorrow we are taking on the one and only Enzo Grande at Bloemendal. We had to leave something in the legs for that racing snake. But that’s another story……..

Cheers
